We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.
Officially making travel a priority. Traveling is more than just a vacation, I love discovering new places and learning about different cultures. That is part of the reason my goal is to establish myself as a destination wedding photographer. Boston is great, yes but there are so many places that I’ve yet to discover. One of them was Puerto Rico! Unfortunately PR was never at the top of my list of places to visit. I know, I know, please don’t judge me but I had envisioned it to be like Boston with plenty of high rises and people in a rush to get from one place to another so I put visiting off. I imagined this because it is US territory. When Eddie kept talking about how he’s always wanted to visit, I thought ‘fine, we can go for your birthday, whatever.’
Well, Puerto Rico was amazing and nothing like I expected! We stayed at the Embassy Suites hotel. Every room is a suite so we had a bedroom, living room with a table and bathroom. Our room had a microwave, fridge and 2 flat screen tv’s. We were a short walking distance to the beach (about 5 minutes walking). We were surrounded by several other hotels and lots of food options as well as room service. To get to Old San Juan we took a taxi and the cost for a 1 way trip was about $20.
For some reason I was expecting to feel like I was in Boston (silly, right?) but PR has kept so much of its authenticity. Never in my life have I eaten so much mofongo and drank so many strawberry margaritas! Our activities included exploring Old San Juan, nighttime bio luminescent bay kayaking and Snorkeling near Flamenco beach.
We vlogged our entire trip which I will definitely be premiering soon but I’ve just added Puerto Rico on my destination wedding photography bucket list! It would honestly be a dream location to photograph a wedding there.
