In Neeeeww Yoooorrrkkk.. (sung in my best Alicia Keys voice). Eddie and I decided to take a last minute road trip to New York City... it was his best friends birthday and he figured his status as a best friend would be demoted if he didn't go. Of course I tagged along! I absolutely love New York City. I had so much fun with Eddie; we drove on Friday night after work (6pm) and we got there fairly quickly, the drive was only 3 1/2 hours or so. We didn't hit any traffic which was amazing and when we got there, we had plenty of time to explore. We stayed at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel in New York City.
The Lotte Palace Hotel is considered a luxury hotel. I was impressed by the decor. The hotel is just a 15 minute walk to Times Square. The room we stayed in was spacious... like.. 'how is this room so big in NYC' spacious. Most of the first floor of the hotel was beautifully decorated with Christmas lights and ornaments (Christmas time in New York is beautiful!). What I loved most about this hotel besides, decor, location and cleanliness was that there was a Starbucks 1 minute away. Are you judging me? Don't. Iced coffee is a daily ritual and I do not plan on quitting.
The night we arrived, we cleaned up and took an Uber to Times Square. We had drinks, dinner and laughs at Dallas BBQ. I'm not a fan of the food but they have great drinks. Afterwards we walked around Times Square. Deciding to go to NYC on Friday instead of Saturday was a great idea for us because we didn't want the trip to feel too short. Everything closes so late in New York so we knew that getting there at 10pm would be worth it.
The next day I woke up bright and early. Now the thing about me is that I always wake up early. I like to wake up around 6 AM every single day, it doesn't matter if I'm on vacation or at home. When I woke up Saturday morning I wasn't surprised that Eddie was still sleeping which is fine because I love 'me time'. I used this opportunity to walk to Starbucks, work on my photography and read a book. When Eddie finally decided to get out of bed (around 10am), we started planning out our day. Saturday consisted of shopping and great food.
Saturday night we celebrated Eddie's best friends 30th birthday. We met up at Pio Pio for dinner and cocktails. It was our first time trying Peruvian food and I honestly didn't know what to expect; needless to say, I was blown away! Oh-em-gee, the food was incredible. Eddie and I were able to share a meal (a first for our relationship because I don't like sharing food). The meal was more than enough for two people and the white wine sangria was amazing!
New York City will always be one of my favorite places for a weekend trip. Being that it is not far from Massachusetts, I am able to go for the weekend and come right back before work on Monday. Where are some of your favorite weekend trip locations?
